there’s no way this is a holistic natural food and if it is then it’s not great. it has a lot of corn which is not good and can cause allergies! also notice it says “animal fat” since they don’t specify what animal, they can put any animal fat in it and change it as they please (e.g. pork fat, chicken fat, beef fat etc.) try something higher in quality like… Merrick, B.G. (Merrick’s grain-free line), Wellness, Wellness Core (grain-free), Innova, Evo (grain-free), California Natural, Organix and Natural Balance

No, they don’t look that good.This food contains not only corn gluten meal but also ground yellow corn and corn bran. It also contains animal fat, animal digest and beet pulp.
It is not a food I would feed to my dogs or recommend.

Even though meat is named as the first & third ingredients it is actually out done by the corn, which has been fragmented to look like it is in lesser amounts when in reality if put together it would become the first ingredient.

What kind of holistic, natural food has ingredients like that? I wouldn’t choose it.

I feed my 9 month old Wellness brand for small breeds. I was told by the workers at a specialty pet food store and a vet that this is a really high quality food. I would avoid this product as it has two corn products in its top ingredients and uses “animal fat”. Also, Wellness, for example, uses Vitamin E rich canola oil in its puppy formula versus animal fat. This formula also contains beet pulp – which I’ve heard can cause tear stains. I’m also not sure what “animal digest” means and it doesn’t sound too good. Check out other higher quality foods, IMO

It isn’t bad but isn’t good either. Corn is in the first 5 ingredients & beet pulp which is a very cheap filler with no nutritional value plus animal digest. I wouldn’t feed it to my dogs.

I would never feed a dog a food that contains corn. But, at least corn is not the main ingredient; you could be feeding him much worse. Corn can be difficult for some dogs to digest, and does nothing for their nutritional needs. “Holistic” is a fancy word for “expensive” in my point of view. There are foods in the similar price range that are better quality. I love Blue Buffalo Puppy Food. They make a chicken http://www.bluebuff.com/products/dogs/lp-puppy-chick.shtml and a lamb http://www.bluebuff.com/products/dogs/lp-puppy-lamb.shtml. They contain no corn. They sell this brand at Petsmart. Or, at your more upscale food stores, you might find Merrick’s Puppy Plate http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/detail.php?c=14&s=20281. It doesn’t contain as much rice.

You have a difficult search, as I am sure you recognize. The only holistic pediatrician I know of is in Littleton, and they cater to an upscale market; they don’t take either medicaid or private insurance. However, maybe I can get you part way in your search.

In the box at the right of the Web page below, you can select Pediatrics from the list of doctors who accept Medicaid. While it doesn’t say which ones would agree with your opposition to antibiotics and vaccinations, at least it gives you a starting point. You could call the ones near you, or look them up online, to see if they are what you want.

Its not too bad, but the ingredients don’t look good to me. Mainly because I feel grain free is healthier.

I feed my puppy Orijen, heres the ingredients:

Deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, lake whitefish, chicken fat, sweet potato, whole eggs, turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, salmon, natural chicken flavour, sunflower oil, sun-cured alfalfa, dried brown kelp, carrots, spinach, peas, tomatoes, apples, psyllium, dulse, glucosamine Hcl, cranberries, black currants, rosemary extract, chondroitin sulfate, sea salt.

TONIC HERBS AND BOTANICALS

Chicory root, licorice root, tumeric root, funugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, zea mays, peppermint leaf, chamomile flowers, dandelion, summer savory, rosehips.

ORGANIC MINERALS

Iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate.

PROBIOTIC MICROORGANISMS

Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product.

PREMIUM VITAMINS

Mixed tocopherols (source of vitamin E), choline chloride, vitamin A, vitamin D3, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12, folic acid, biotin.

IMO I think you should try to find a dog food that has similar quality as Orijen like:

That doesn’t sound outrageous. The recomended holistic vet I called to price wanted $150.00 each dog (discounted price for 2 dogs), $75.00 each dog (again discounted price) for a checkup and additional cost for any tests. I ended up cancelling because it was a 2 hour round trip. Holistic/homeopathic vets don’t come cheap.

I took my dog to a holistic vet to discuss my dog’s diet. I was hoping the vet would be able to give me a diet because I wanted to cook for my dog myself and what supplements if any my dog would need.

The fee was I believe 40 dollars for each 15 minutes, we were there for 1/2 hour so I paid 80 dollars to hear the vet say to feed him raw, feed raw food, that was it — I did not want to feed raw and made that clear right out but all he said was feed raw food

That is how they charge I guess, per 15 minutes, I would imagine it really adding up if you had something serious to discuss or do
